As an employee within a corporate company in a busy Tier 1 city, one often finds themselves stuck in the rut of deadlines and meetings. This can become very tiring and exhausting at times.
It was then that I decided to look for a place where I could relax and get some peace of mind. It led me to discover Dima Hasao District, which is located amidst the hilly terrain of Assam.
My first stop was Guwahati, from where I embarked on a train journey.
This was like I was slowly distancing myself from all the craziness of the urban life and entering into a green environment, with the help of my train that passed through lovely tea gardens, valleys, and thick forest covers.
Haflong was my base camp; it is the headquarters of the district and the only hill station in Assam.
Time moved slowly here as I enjoyed the beauty of the rolling hills, serene lakes, and crisp mountain air.
A tour of Maibang gave me a taste of Assam’s fascinating history.
Maibang was once the capital city of the Kachari Kingdom, and it is dotted with ancient ruins that have beautiful carvings etched into them, along with stories associated with them.
Dima Hasao is a veritable feast of nature’s splendor.
Each nook and cranny appeared pristine and invigorating.
The people of Dima Hasao made the experience even more special. Their warmth and simplicity are unforgettable.
I enjoyed authentic Assamese and tribal dishes like:
Beyond food, it was the heartfelt conversations and genuine hospitality that truly stood out.
In Dima Hasao, I rediscovered the joy of slowing down:
This wasn’t just travel—it was healing.
My trip to Dima Hasao District wasn’t just a break from routine—it was a reminder.
A reminder that life doesn’t always have to be rushed. That peace exists, quietly waiting in places untouched by chaos.
As I returned to city life, I carried back something invaluable—clarity, calm, and connection.
Woahhh! Hello there! Stop! You don't wanna do this.
