Gurudongmar is one of the highest lakes in the world. It lies in the North side of the Khangchengyao Range and is encircled all around by snow-covered mountains, the sacred lake freezes during the winters except at one spot, which the devout belief has been especially blessed. The Chinese Tibetan border is just a few kilometers away from the lake.
The myth behind this is that Guru Dongmar had once touched and consecrated this lake and made it partially frozen throughout the year. The Lake also carries curing properties and offers the amazing view of Mount Siniolchu and Khanchendzonga. Gurudongmar Lake is extremelypopular amongst the tourists because of its religious significance, scenic beauty and admirable treks.
